Obama’s Top 10 “Let Them Eat Cake” Moments

Written By: Ofbyfor - Sep• 26•12

Man and Superman

So, what are Obama’s Top Ten “Let them eat cake” moments during his first term in office?

Finding them wasn’t hard.

But limiting myself to only ten wasn’t easy.

Because even though this President is ever more candid about his socialist approach to government rule, he is not necessarily an advocate for the poor.  He’s not even that much of an advocate for the middle class, and I’m not talking about the ways in which he’s made their life — sorry, OUR life — miserable during the past 4 years.

I’m talking about Obama’s seriously elitist mentality.

Americans have a  core value — one that they don’t even have to think about to believe — regarding the equality of all people.  The American Dream is the antithesis of elitism, as it invites everyone from everywhere — “the poor, tired, huddled masses” — to reach for the skies and pursue their dreams all the way to success.  No one at the starting line is excluded, and Americans applaud the victory of those who succeed despite their challenges.  When the challenges seem too great, Americans enact laws to level the playing field just a little bit more, so that everyone has a chance. We take for granted that this is the reason behind Equal Opportunity laws.

Real Americans are as anti-elitist as you can get, which is probably why the Occupy Wall Street movement has never really taken off  in the U.S. despite the encouragement from the Obama Administration and aid from his friends.

Now,  I’m not saying that there aren’t poor Americans out there or even that there aren’t a few exceptions to the rule. What I am saying is that Americans as a whole are adamant about everyone having an equal opportunity to succeed.  And the reason for it is very fundamental.  Americans believe that all are created equal—that all people are endowed by their Creator with the rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. ALL PEOPLE–every one of us.  And so castes and differences in the fundamental value of human beings are a foreign concept to Americans.

But, as someone who has lived his formative years out of America, those deeply held American values are not necessarily a part of Obama’s core psyche.  Obama is an ironic mix of  socialist elitist who believes that some people are worth more than others–some people are smarter, better and deserve more than others. Some people, in fact,  have to decide everything for “the great unwashed” who by their lesser nature can’t decide for themselves.

Sound familiar? It’s because that’s what the Obamas believe. The Obamas see nothing wrong with their lifestyle because, as part of the elite class, they feel (subconsciously perhaps) that they deserve it more than others.   They are smarter than most Americans, they are better. They are the ones who must make the decisions for the lesser class.   So some of the things that he and Michelle do — such as flaunt their wealth in the middle of  America’s Second Most Severe Depression in history — are not surprising.

There are many other things that Americans believe that Obama doesn’t, such as that leaders serve the people versus lord it over them (which is a very American, even Christian value), but it is Obama’s elitism that has made him slip into his “let them eat cake” actions so often. And that’s what has made it so easy for me to compile a list of those moments from the past four years.

So here goes — The Obama Administration’s  top ten “let them eat cake” moments……

Michelle Obama’s new, draconian food restrictions for school lunches have students and teachers up in arms. The students, especially growing athletes who need more calories than the schools are now allowed to give, are hungry and tired by the end of the day because of the new Michelle O -backed regulations.

But it gets even better than that.  This radical school lunch diet change also costs a fortune. The new changes will cost taxpayers an estimated $3.5 Billion dollars over the next 5 years.  Now that’s a lot of lettuce!:-)  Unfortunately, we’re the ones who have to pay for it, as are the teachers, who will most likely not get hired, not get raises, and not get the supplies that that same $3.5 Billion dollars could easily pay for.

Watch the student revolt video:

Michelle O’s  job—the job of the wife of the President– is supposed to help the country in some non-controversial, genuinely charitable way. But she cannot help but be the elitist critic, even with that small task.  She probably got a little help from some foreign, anti-colonial friends. “Fat Americans,” they say laughing,  “you want to “help” them? Here’s how you can “help” them. Tell their children not to eat so much!”

The problem is that she is not helping Americans by making their children pay higher prices at school for much less food that now tastes terrible. She is only helping her husband make sure that “those fat Americans” starve under his administration— in fact,  not only the children, but the teachers as well.

From the article:

“Michelle Obama dazzled in true First Lady style at the DNC fundraiser this week, her left wrist dripping with diamonds as she supported her husband at the party event…… The First Lady, 47, chose to wear (designer Katie Decker) Miss Decker’s Lotus cuff, with 2.9 carats of diamonds, costing $15,000, the Gothic cuff with 2.17 carats of diamonds, costing $15,350, and the $11,800 Quatrefoil bracelet with 1.73 carats of diamonds to the Gotham Hall event.”

Whether Ms. Obama owned the bracelet or not,  “dazzling” a group of rich Democrats by “dripping” with $42,150.00 in diamonds while the country is suffering from the worst Recession since 1929 would be gauche for a Kardashian, let alone the wife of the leader of the U.S.
Doesn’t Michelle realize that opulent displays of wealth are soooo not in anymore?

“A shimmering Michelle Obama wowed Buckingham Palace in a captivating, all-white embroidered jacket that retails for $6,800 —”

Whether she’s shimmering, dazzling or dripping in diamonds, it’s still gauche to hobnob at a party wearing one jacket that could clothe 680 needy school children.

From the UK’s “Daily Mail”

“Branding her ‘disgusting’ and ‘a vacation junkie’, they say the 47-year-old mother-of-two has been indulging in five-star hotels, where she splashes out on expensive massages and alcohol.”

The super-duper $10 million dollar Obama vacation budget  includes, but is not limited to a 4 day ski trip to Vail, a $50,000 trip to Martha’s Vineyard, a mega-vacation in Hawaii to the tune of $4 million dollars , and an expensive romp to Spain — See…..

Hawaii vacation at taxpayer expense — $4 million dollars –$3,629,622 to be exact.

Michelle’s Spain vacation at taxpayer expense –$467,585

Martha’s Vineyard trip — Not only did the family spend taxpayer money hobnobbing with friends but he had to finish his vacation before he could muster up the time to give America a jobs bill.

Watch out Tiger Woods……the new guy’s in town and he’s trying to get a “leg up” on the competition.

Here’s the quote by Barack Obama:

“Under my plan of cap and trade plan makes electricity rates will necessarily skyrocket”‘; “coal powered plants, natural gas, you name it..whatever the plants were…they will have to retrofit their operations..that will cost money and they will have to pass those costs onto consumers”

Barack Obama

And as a bonus,  Obama promises to bankrupt the coal industry:

Let’s see — gas was $1.84 when Obama took office.  Now it averages $3.85.  And that raises the price of food, transportation, you name it exponentially.  The cost of electricity has gone up too. Everything goes up in price — well, everything except our incomes, the value of our homes and our personal wealth which has gone down on average as a nation by 40%

I guess that is one promise that Obama has actually kept.

Who needs money for senior medical care when you’ve got Kathleen “fewer births mean less expense” Sebelius overseeing your Obamacare death panels?

I know what you thought you heard.  Obama complains about Americans having not enough to eat, right? No. Obama complains about Americans having enough to eat, and vows to change that.

Here’s the quote from Barack Obama himself:

“We can’t drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times… and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK. That’s not leadership. That’s not going to happen.”

So — it really ticks other countries off that we drive suburbans and have enough to eat. Therefore, Obama is going to change that.  Despite his $10 million dollar vacations*, the great unwashed, aka the middle class, will no longer be able to eat enough or drive automobiles or use the air conditioning.  Not if Obama has anything to say about it.

*(Hmmm….do you think that the Obamas used a heater at that super-expensive, taxpayer-paid vacation to Vail? Do you think he sweated it out with his Hollywood friends or put on the central air conditioning at those $40,000 a plate one-percenter parties ? Did he take a carbon-emission -producing plane to Hawaii for that $4 million dollar taxpayer paid family vacation or ride a bicycle? I’ll bet a dollar that the Obamas’ carbon footprint is a whole lot bigger than your average Suburban-owning middle class family. Just saying….)

Ok, I’ll say it. Obama has been successful at something during his Presidency.  He’s kept a promise.  Just look at how well he’s done making sure the middle class can’t drive SUVs, keep the thermostat to 72 degrees or have enough to eat!

What do you think?  How far can you  drive your  ancient 150,000+ mile car—the only one you can afford — with gas prices as high as they are now? I’ll bet you drive a lot less, whether you own a Suburban or not.  And food—how much meat can you afford to buy now since Obama has been in office? Not a whole lot anymore, right? You would have to say that Obama’s promise to put an end to Americans “eating all they want” is one promise he’s kept.  The middle class can’t afford to do any of that stuff anymore. Thanks, Mr. President.

Life is now so much more miserable for the middle class after 4 years of Barack Obama.  We just didn’t realize that he was making it miserable for us on purpose.

and see

Facts: The Middle East is erupting with violence, ready to blow up and Iran is promising to nuke Israel.  Kind of a crisis, wouldn’t you say?  The leader of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, wants to talk to the President.  Since President Obama has NOT EVEN ONCE visited Israel during his administration, Netanyahu decides to come to Washington to make it easier for Obama to make the time to meet with him.

But the President is waaaaaay to busy to meet with the Israeli Prime Minister.  He’s got lots of stuff to do, you know? Presidential stuff, like the talk show circuit.  He’s a celebrity, and he just can’t miss those celebrity parties in Vegas.  He can’t squeeze in any time, because he’s got to appear on David Letterman, on “The View” and meet with JayZ.   And you know, time flies when you’re having fun.

Let them eat cake, Israel? Well, they won’t have to worry about eating anything after Iran’s President gets through with them. And Obama is just too busy to help.

Reagan’s Foreign Policy“Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!”***

Obama’s Foreign Policy “We’re so sorry, murderous thugs, that that silly, ridiculously stupid, low budget youtube video that the U.S. had nothing to do with offended you-all. Would you like a heartfelt apology with that 2.5 billion U.S. dollars we’re already giving you? ”

—Oh, and by the way, we’ve already directed NASA to change their focus from ecstatic American innovation to making you-all feel good about yourselves. Just another “reaching out” moment care of the U.S. of A. We’d  really appreciate if you would stop killing our people and destroying our embassies because it just isn’t nice, you know? Thanks. You’re the greatest.”

Ambassador Chris Stevens feared for his life, worried that he would be the target of a hit prior to the embassy raid by the thugs in Libya that killed him.    Yet there was little to no protection for the Ambassador on the most volatile day of the year for Americans, 9/11/12, especially dangerous for Americans living in the middle east.  Not only was Ambassador Stevens murdered, but also killed by those same thugs were heroic American Seals who risked their lives in order to try to protect the Ambassador and his staff.

From the article,

“Two former Navy SEALs are being hailed as heroes for rushing to the aid of American diplomats at the U.S. consulate in Libya before they were killed in an attack on a safe house.

Glen Doherty, 42, and Tyrone Woods, 41, were in the capital of Benghazi as part of a private security force.

On September 11, they were staying in a secure annex on the other part of town when they heard that the consulate compound was under attack and the diplomats there had only nine security officers to protect them against the armed mob.

Sources familiar with the attack told CNN that Doherty and Woods, along with other security personnel, left their location and made their way to the American embassy, where they gathered the diplomats and escorted them to a safe house.”

These men died as heroes, and it is too tragic for words what happened to them.  But the violence in Libya was just the tip of the iceberg. Soon American Embassies all over the world were being  besieged by hordes of militants who burned American flags, climbed the walls of the embassies, and erupted in violent protests throughout the middle east. The pretext for these violent uprisings was that the people were offended by a really stupid, poorly made, low budget video.

The Obama Administration responded promptly to these horrific events.

And here’s the response:

“Now I know it is hard for some people to understand why the United States cannot or does not just prevent these kinds of ……”

Of what? Of unspeakable violence? Of rape and murder? Of failure to protect our Ambassadors and those who serve us overseas?

No. From the mouth of the Obama Administration’s Secretary of State — “Of  reprehensible VIDEOS   from ever seeing the light of day…”

So America is apologizing for the video and not for failing to protect its own people overseas.

And when CNN points out that little fact, the Obama Administration’s response is to blame……CNN.  Who else would the Obama administration blame but the messenger?

Eat cake, America!

So those are the top ten “let them eat cake” moments of the Obama administration’s first term.  I can hardly wait to see what’s next!

***Here’s an excerpt from that great man’s speech, Ronald Reagan:

“In the 1950s, Khrushchev predicted: ‘We will bury you.’ But in the West today, we see a free world that has achieved a level of prosperity and well-being unprecedented in all human history. In the Communist world, we see failure, technological backwardness, declining standards of health, even want of the most basic kind–too little food. Even today, the Soviet Union still cannot feed itself. After these four decades, then, there stands before the entire world one great and inescapable conclusion: Freedom leads to prosperity. Freedom replaces the ancient hatreds among the nations with comity and peace. Freedom is the victor.

“And now the Soviets themselves may, in a limited way, be coming to understand the importance of freedom. We hear much from Moscow about a new policy of reform and openness. Some political prisoners have been released. Certain foreign news broadcasts are no longer being jammed. Some economic enterprises have been permitted to operate with greater freedom from state control.

“Are these the beginnings of profound changes in the Soviet state? Or are they token gestures, intended to raise false hopes in the West, or to strengthen the Soviet system without changing it? We welcome change and openness; for we believe that freedom and security go together, that the advance of human liberty can only strengthen the cause of world peace. There is one sign the Soviets can make that would be unmistakable, that would advance dramatically the cause of freedom and peace.

“General Secretary Gorbachev, if you seek peace, if you seek prosperity for the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, if you seek liberalization: Come here to this gate! Mr. Gorbachev, open this gate! Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!’”

  2. Ofbyfor says:

Thanks so much, Cathy, for your comment. I agree that this is not about black and white but about policies and character. I am and have always been a Herman Cain fan, and it has nothing to do with color — I appreciate his policies and believe that he would have made a terrific President if we had had the good fortune to elect him. I honestly grew to love Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan towards the end, and think they ran a wonderful campaign, but Mr. Cain was always my first choice. Maybe he’ll show up again sometime in the future, who knows? Bill Clinton had much bigger issues and he’s golden now, so, it could happen.

I know that is all water under the bridge and that what is done is done, but what I object to about Mr. Obama in a nutshell (see the rest of the blog for an explanation :-)) is that I think that his policies will do harm to America, and I love our great country and do not want to see anything happen to her (or us).

I think that all that matters right now is where to go from here. I will post more about that later on, but I do know that the title of the next post will be “Peace…and the Road Ahead.” We are still Americans and one of our greatest strengths is our civility. I did not vote for this President last time, but I welcomed him with open arms in 2008 and hoped for the best. I accept him this time around too — he won the election and is still my President– and I hope and even more importantly, PRAY for the best in the years ahead. May God still bless America and keep her from all harm.

Whatever happens, I know that ultimately we are in God’s hands, and that I will be relying upon Him even more completely in the future.
I hope that I am wrong, but because of this President I think that we will not be the prosperous nation we once were—maybe we will never be as prosperous again. But I take consolation in the fact that prosperity is not the most important thing in the world. Our nation has undergone hardship before, and we will survive this time too. In fact, perhaps my greatest consolation is that I believe that Faith grows in times of hardship and persecution, and that it tends to wane in the midst of prosperity. Ironically, it may be true that the greatest threat to one’s Faith is not hardship but luxury. Prosperity during these past 50 or so years has brought unprecedented advancement and innovation to America, but it has also seemed to corrupt us as a people. Maybe it is because it is too easy to rely on a paycheck instead of God for ones daily bread—too easy to make ambition or a career into a life’s purpose and put those mini-gods ahead of God in one’s life. Maybe the reason why we can’t say Christmas or have the 10 Commandments in our courthouses is because we were too comfortable to object strongly enough — we were too busy with our lives and careers and families to worry about it — and now look what has happened.
We are crumbling from the inside because this country that was built upon a dream, upon the Faith of our Fathers, upon Christian principles and ideals, has lost the foundation that held it together.

As Ronald Reagan once said, “If we ever forget that we’re one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under.”

But I do believe there is a bright side to all of this. The pendulum swings both ways, and so many of the young seem to be wiser and more conservative—there is a resurgence in faith that brings a light to this darkness. Check out who is at those pro-life rallies — the young, not the old. They see the 3 and 4D ultrasounds and have no sex-saturated agenda that keeps them from seeing a baby and not a blob– one who is worthy of life and in need of protection.
I’ve seen so many of the young with such genuine faith — they are devoted to God in a very real way and they bring Him into every part of their lives without reservation. They are better than we were when we were young, and I believe they are the hope of the future. As for the rest, I think that hardship tends to bring a lot of clarity about what is important in life, and so even those will be less easily deceived in the future. If things get really serious after the next four years, I doubt that there will be many voters who get their election guide from comedians on Twitter, you know?

In any case, with God’s help we will make it through the next four years.

Anyway, thanks again for your comment and for visiting this blog! I really appreciate it!
